Handy Desktop-Based Audio Recorder and Analyser

AD Stream Recorder is a great application when the user hopes to view, analyse or modify a specific audio file. Not only can it detect and record any output signal from a sound card, but the ability to digitise its contents can be a very useful tool for anyone who hopes to modify or clean up an existing track.

Tools and Basic Functions

AD Stream Recorder can also record any Internet-based streaming audio source. Currently supported codecs include WAV, MP3, FLAC, OGG and WMA. Another benefit of this application is that it will display waveforms in a real-time format during the playback of a specific audio track. The main purpose of this feature is to allow the operator to make adjustments before saving the recorded file into one of the formats mentioned previously. Most audio files are supported during playback and an aggregate file size of only two megabytes will not require much hard drive space.

Other Options

AD Stream Recorder can detect when a sound has been clipped and it offers hotkeys for one-touch modifications. So, it has never been easier to make on-the-spot adjustments when necessary. This application can also be used as a stand-alone audio player (much in the same way as Windows Media Player or FLV Media Player).

PROS

  • A user-friendly layout streamlines the entire recording process
  • Waveforms are digitised to allow for easy adjustments

CONS

  • AD Stream Recorder only supports a handful of output formats
  • More advanced editing options are not possible with this tool
